Know which details can change before kickoff
Local nightlife information decays quickly. The right response is not to pretend it is permanent; it is to label how fast each claim can change.
Four evidence states
| State | Meaning | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Stable-ish | Public fact unlikely to change daily | Street address |
| Changeable | Posted, but changeable | Regular hours, reservation policy |
| Fixture-specific | Only true for a named event/game | Watch-party listing, sound assignment |
| Not confirmed | No reliable support found | Expected crowd, exact screen before confirmation |
“Stable-ish” is deliberately not “permanent.” Businesses move; routes change; websites lag reality. Every note still has a checked date.
Match the source to the claim
An official venue page is strong for its address and its own published product. A supporters group is strong for its own gathering. A sports federation is strong for the match schedule. A transit agency is strong for service information.
The right source keeps one true detail from turning into a promise it cannot support.
Read “confirm on game day” as a feature
A “confirm on game day” note is useful when the detail can change faster than a static page can. It is a warning that the field is operational and can change faster than a static page can safely promise.
When the exact feed or sound is central to your night, do the final check yourself even if a guide was updated recently.
Write what your group will care about at 7:55 p.m.
A useful note is concrete: “game confirmed / audio in main room not confirmed / table for six reserved / arrive by 7:15 / recheck at 5.” It can be short; what matters is making the one condition that could still break the plan easy to see.
Stable facts and fast-changing facts belong in different buckets
An address can stay useful for years. An audio assignment can change after the afternoon shift arrives. A reservation can disappear. A watch party can move. Give the fast-changing facts a day-of check and stop spending energy re-verifying the street number.
If you share the note in a group chat, include the venue or organizer link next to the uncertain item. That gives the next person a way to update the plan instead of repeating the whole search.
